Representations and modelling for teaching and learning
The advent of artificial intelligence has stimulated the creativity of teachers and researchers. Language learners also use AI for various purposes. The talk will focus on how AI has been employed in the creation of visual representations and modelling in language teaching and learning. The role of representations and modellings aided by AI in glottodidactics, its value and possible challenges will be discussed.
Larissa Aronin is based in Israel. She is an international scholar in the field of applied linguistics, multilingualism and language teaching. In August 2024 she received Honorary Member Award of the International Association of Multilingualism ( Distinguished scholar in multilingualism, Groningen 2024). Her most significant contributions to the field of applied linguistics are the extension of traditional understandings of multilingualism introducing the concepts and theories of 'the new linguistic dispensation', 'Dominant Language Constellations (DLC)', 'the philosophy of multilingualism', and 'the Material Culture of Multilingualism'. She has published multiple articles, encyclopedia entries and books on multilingualism. Among the most recent ones are three volumes on DLC in 2020, 2021 and 2023 (Springer) and the textbook on Multilingualism titled " An Advanced Guide to Multilingualism" 2022, published by Edinburgh University Press. Prof. Aronin is a founding member of the International Association of Multilingualism and served two terms as Secretary of IAM. Prof. Aronin is a Board Member of Language Teaching (CUP) and an Editorial Board member of several international peer-reviewed journals.
